Introducing the new benefit to those most likely to need the program, but least likely to use it.
Washington was the fifth state in the country to pass a paid family and medical leave program. We partnered with the state to implement a phased campaign that educated employers on the value of paid leave to their business and the state, and quickly launched a targeted digital, print and radio campaign in English and Spanish, including radio ads targeting businesses across Eastern and Central Washington. The campaign drove 192,462 new users to the program’s website, a 42% increase.

Meeting an unprecedented challenge through strategy, collaboration and community engagement.
As the COVID-19 pandemic took hold in early 2020, Oregon Health Authority faced a dire need for a coordinated response in order to educate the public and slow the spread of disease, particularly among communities most impacted by racism, ableism, poverty and trauma. Brink was engaged to create an integrated marketing campaign that included traditional and digital advertising, social media outreach and culturally responsive and transcreated materials in 12 languages. The goal: to inform and engage Indigenous, Black, Brown and Communities of Color through a trauma-informed lens and increase access to support and resources. The Safe + Strong campaign launched its website in 12 languages within weeks of the lockdown in April. The campaign continues today.

Additionally, Brink provided technical assistance to support 170+ Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and local public health authorities by co-creating materials tailored to their community needs. As a result of this effort, CBOs report improved resource management and increased capacity to meet community needs.

Envisioning communities where all parents and primary caregivers are supported in caring for their children with confidence, competence and joy.
With the introduction of Washington’s new Paid Family and Medical Leave program, Perigee saw an opportunity to help at-risk parents access this benefit and improve long-term health outcomes for their children. Brink was engaged to create a campaign in two Washington counties — Pierce and Yakima — to reach Black, Latino, Chinese, Cambodian and Vietnamese expectant parents either by birth, adoption or foster care, with a particular emphasis on Spanish speaking audiences. The ad campaign and site momentsearned.org launched in early December 2020 in five languages, garnering more than 1,100 unique visitors and 30 applicants within its first two weeks.

Drive Oregon was ready to evolve and expand—beyond Oregon, beyond electric vehicles and toward a consumer-facing audience.
We partnered with the Drive Oregon team to transform them into Forth, a national transportation advocacy organization leading the way to electric, shared and smart mobility. Our work included a new name, brand, website, promotional materials and a national PR campaign to share it all. We also designed a physical space in downtown Portland to promote electric vehicles—the Go Forth Electric Showcase, America’s first electric vehicle showroom.

Reimagining the Civic Commons is transforming civic assets in five U.S. cities and reinventing how cities manage public places like parks and libraries. We worked with teams on the ground and at four national foundations to complete a national media launch and create web copy designed to make this complex concept real for audiences from mayors to community members. Since the successful launch, our work has grown to include strategic counsel, direct engagement with city teams, storytelling and PR, design of presentations and metrics reports, a website redesign and more.

Four years in, the results include new state laws to raise the minimum wage, ensure paid sick days, provide greater retirement security, ban police profiling and provide health coverage for every child who calls Oregon home. From just desserts to legislative reform.
When Rachel and Laurel Bowman-Cryer started planning their new life as a family in Portland, OR, they soon became an international news story – for being denied a wedding cake because they were a same-sex couple. Brink worked with Basic Rights Oregon to help Rachel and Laurel turn their story into powerful activism, raising awareness around the discrimination that still exists against LGBTQ communities in cities as progressive as Portland.
